These are the teaching places in Stockholm whose pages say outright that complete beginners are welcome. Stockholms Schacksällskap trains juniors of every level, from the age of four, on Tuesday afternoons at the Schacksalongerna on Ringvägen, in a group kept separate from the adult club evening. Its page also says that anyone is welcome at the club evening itself on any Tuesday.

In Norrtälje, SS Gambit takes newcomers through the rules from the start at its Wednesday club evening at Folkets Hus. For schools, the federation's Schack i skolan programme gives teachers a free course and ready-made lessons so that pupils can start from nothing in their own classroom. Other clubs teach beginners too, but their pages do not say it in so many words.
