Chess clubs and societies in Stockholm 40

A Stockholm chess club is a member association, usually affiliated to the Stockholm district federation, that meets on one or two fixed weekday evenings. On Södermalm, Stockholms Schacksällskap, which calls itself the world's third oldest chess club, plays on Tuesdays in the Schacksalongerna at Ringvägen 9 B, where Seniorschack Stockholm and Södra SASS are also at home. Kungstornet meets on Wednesdays in Vasastan, Wasa SK at Kungsholmens kulturhus, SK Rockaden in Hägerstensåsen and Kristallens SK at Katarina Södra skola, while Farsta SK trains juniors in three places south of the centre.

Outside the city the list reaches Södertälje, Tullinge and Huddinge in the south and Täby, Vallentuna, Märsta and several clubs in Norrtälje municipality in the north, with Nacka-Värmdö, Solna-Sundbyberg, Lidingö, Järfälla and the Mälaren islands in between. A few clubs are known only from the federation's member register, with a playing place but no page showing recent activity; their cards say they are unconfirmed.
